ACT Education Directorate
Overview
BurHor Group delivered comprehensive horticultural, arboricultural and landscape maintenance services for the ACT Education Directorate across Canberra High School, Narrabundah College and the Canberra Institute of Technology (CIT). These high-use education facilities required safe, functional and well-presented outdoor environments for students, staff and visitors.
Services included open space maintenance, landscape and garden maintenance, tree planting, arboricultural services, tree risk assessments, pruning to AS4373, mowing, turf management, irrigation maintenance, environmental weed management, pest and disease management, playground area maintenance and emergency response works.
Outcomes/Benefits
BurHor ensured all education facilities remained safe, attractive and well-maintained while protecting the long-term value of landscape assets. GIS and TRAK technology enabled programmed maintenance coordination, inspection records and performance reporting, supporting proactive asset management across all sites.
Challenges/Solutions
Education facilities require all maintenance activities to be undertaken with minimal disruption to daily operations and with particular attention to student and pedestrian safety. BurHor worked collaboratively with facility managers to schedule works appropriately, maintaining safety and presentation standards across high-traffic environments.
